AdvertisingWhen we talk about ‘advertising’ we mean anything that is used to market, promote and advertise your business, from a business card to a website. While every project is different (one of the reasons we love advertising), we usually follow the process outlined below. The BriefWhether it’s a 10 page document or a call to say “We need a new advert for product x to go into magazine y”, the brief is the starting point. It can be solely client-generated; ideally, however, we work together to clarify objectives, requirements and budgets for each project. Concept & DesignThis is where we go and huddle, brainstorm and come up with the ‘big idea’. We don’t really huddle. We do some research, some strategic planning, and a lot of creative brainstorming. Then, once we have the Big Idea, or a couple of them, we translate that into physical layouts, mock-ups and/or storyboards that we present to our client. CopyGreat copy will be a part of the Big Idea. So will body copy that engages and clearly communicates with the client’s customers. We take the information on the product, service or company that we have been given, and write the copy as required. We edit, proofread and proofread it again – and again. ProductionOnce we’ve tweaked the concept, client likes it, we’ve done the cost estimate – it’s time to produce it. This is where the content comes in – the photographs, the body copy, actors, voices, recordings, filming etc – everything that is needed to create the elements is done, put together, and finalised for printing, publishing, broadcast, uploading etc. |
